Friday/Saturday/Sunday Adventures: TDtESS + Yes Man + Scavenger Hunt Christmas Party + Work

Man. If I only do one catchup a day, I'm never gonna get caught up. Dx Fail.

Friday:
Woke up, got ready, and left to pick up Alicia. I gave her present to her, a Mug of Awesomeness. And I was so glad she liked it, too. :D And we then made our way to Kroger, got drinks and a sandwhich, and then the Marquee.. to watch The Day the Earth Stood Still.

After watching LotR, a hardcore fantasy, to TDtESS, a remake of a sci fi classic, I confirmed one thing: I love sci fi, and it's almost comforting to me. To chill in a dark room and be told a story about giant robot lookin' things, aliens, and apocalyptic event? Yeah. It's my zone. Especially with the familiar face of Keanu Reeves. I love my Neo.

The movie wasn't "OMG THIS IS THE NEXT BEST THING!" But it was by no means bad. Alicia and I had our omgnowai moments. We were "on the edge of our seats" occasionally, so to speak. It was also a lot of fun to see a movie with her again, since we haven't done that in ages. xD

I'd recommend a sci fi lover to see it. :3

Then we left, and I took Alicia home, and then went home myself. I was so tired.. debated a nap. Took care of some internetly things, when Mom said we were leaving for Mickie's party in an hour. And Seri had told me "I'm going to Mickie's party tonight", but the way she said it made me think that it was some little thing just for his friends or something? I wasn't offended or anything. I just didn't know I was going too. xD

So I forsook (Wow. Forsook is a word? lolz) my nap, did some more work, and then got ready and left. I brought my sketchbook with me 'cause I was trying to figure out a good way to make my Soda Tab and Ticket Stub monsters. Came up with a couple ideas.. now I don't know which one to do. D8 We ate, talked about movies (totally my zone again), sung happy birthday, ate s'more, watched Mickie open his presents, and then I played Mario Kart against Bailey awhile. The boy had Rob. Rob beats my Shyguything easily. :<

Soon enough we went home.. and I stayed up too late drawing and whatnot..

Saturday:
Woke up, dropped off CJ and Caden at church for basketball practice. I also picked Seri up from co-coaching her team. Then we went to Sheetz, and got some snacks. I also found a Jack Sparrow and Mufasa Pezz.. so I bought them 'cause they were decently priced and they'd be cool in my Mass Movie Room. :D

Then we left and went to the Marquee to see Yes Man. It looked so funny and we were pretty eager to watch it. Seri hadn't been to the movies in quite awhile. o_o Strange child. I'm there all the time. xD

Yes Man was indeed, pretty dang funny. It did have a couple fist fulls of strong language, and a couple scenes that made me cringe and ate away at what innocence I have left. But all in all, it was funny, and did have a good message behind it. Or at least it did to me... because I am notorious for saying "no" and just staying in my comfort zone. Granted, I wouldn't go around saying yes to everything, but it would be pretty neat to try. But all in all, that's the lesson of the movie. I'd say.. adults looking for a laugh might want to see it. But a mini-sized chunk of it was rather inappropriate.

So we went home, and got changed, and Aunt Shelly came over to help us take family pictures. .... :| 8 people, half of which are impatient and some who don't wanna be there, trying to get a good picture.. is not fun. But Aunt Shelly stuck it out with us and helped us get some good ones altogether. I gotta get 'em off mom's comp. Mom also took a slew of individual shots.. and I am not fond of most of the ones of me. :<

I stayed in my fancy pants clothing though, 'cause I had a Christmas party to go to that night. Soon enough it was time to go.. and I went to Dollar General to pick up some snack.. because I didn't have time to make any myself. :<

Got to church, and things got started. This was no normal Christmas party. This was a two-town-wide scavenger hunt. They divided everyone up into teams. I had Alicia and Lori on my team, and I was driving. :D Sweet, no?

They had us all line our cars up, counted down, and gave us our first clue and off we went. xD The first one said something like "The previous teacher's of this class' son occasionally works here." or something. And I knew where to go. Unfortunately, so did Hannah and Michael's teams. D: So off to CCS Equipment Sales we went.

Pulled in there, and we jumped outta my car, darted for the door, and grabbed a red clue off the door. Next one, "You pulls these over you at night to get warm." And everyone was stumped... All of these places were supposed to be businesses and such around the area. That was kinda vague... Soon enough, Team Hannah and Team Michael left. We debated what to do, and eventually went the same way.

Meanwhile, we're trying to figure out who sells blankets.. or socks.. or something. And somewhere down the line, Alicia goes "... Bed sheets? ... SHEETZ!" So we take the next loop and head back to Sheetz. xD I park, and Alicia and Lori dart in, and find Pastor Brian there, waiting for us. They get the next clue, and we're off, liek really fast.

Next clue: "This place is known for having some of the best outlets and ice around." And we were kinda like "Uhh... The Factory?" Which is a community place with a number of stores, some restaurants, an indoor soccer field, YMCA, and two ice skating rinks. Fit the description, right? So we get there, find a parking spot, and rush in. We also saw Team Michael pull in. Surely we were in the right spot.. even though we saw Team Hannah pull into another shopping center entirely...

We ask around, look around, and find nothing. After like.. 15 minutes of poking around, Drew texts us and says it's not The Factory. Fail. And Alicia was on the phone with him, trying to figure it out, and eventually we got it out of him that it was Smithfield's Chicken 'N BAR-B-Q. I guess the outlets part made sense since there's a lot of outlets in Smithfield, but the ice? :/ I guess they meant iced tea. Dude, sounded like the factory. So we go there, and Pastor Brian and Drew are waiting for us. They also tell us that we're the second team through. :o We're ahead of Team Michael.

"One of these a day will keep the doctor away. Don't get stung by one of these." And off to Applebee's we went. Lori had sniped us a parking spot from the highway. xD When we got there, I followed her directions and got one right by the door. They ran in and asked the hostess about a scavenger hunt, and she gave us the next clue. "Brian's favorite place. This one has a drivethrough." So off to a specific Starbucks we went. The one by the Marquee. xD

By now, they were running in and getting stuff, and I just stayed in the getawaycar. So they went in, talked to some people, and found the next clue. I totally don't remember what it said.. it was kinda weird.. but we knew we had to go to the Blimpie's in Walmart. So off to Walmart we went. This time I parked and we all went in. Next clue? Uh.. I think it was a spin on the slogan for Harris Teeter.. xD So off to there we went.

It was in Heritage. So by now I'm thinking the party is probably at Drew's (student Drew) house. So we go there, and I drop Lori and Alicia off at the door. I retreat up the parking lot, and they're out in a flash. They're like.. waving me down, and I have to back up and do a loop 'cause some people and cars were in my way. So I pick my teammates up, and they said some lady at the front desk gave it to them, and said another team had just been here.

So we're like "OMG! GO GO GO!" thinking we had somehow caught up to Team Hannah? The final clue was directions to an address.. And turns out, it was Student!Drew's address. Student!Drew is on Team Michael. Ohsnap.. So we go as quickly as we can within the speed limit (Or four/five over), and get there and rush inside..

to find..

Team Michal has beaten us by like a minute. And Team Hannah had been there for like 15 minutes. Turns out Student!Drew took a shortcut 'cause she figured out it was her house. :<

Well. At least I got everyone there safe.

We ate cookies and good stuff. Then we had a white elephant exchange. I brought a mug with fake spray on snow in it. When it was my turn to pick presents, I got Alicia's that her Dad had to buy for her. And they were fireworks. 8D And then Pastor Briant went.. and stole my fireworks. ;_; So I took another present.. and it was some ice scraper glove thing and.. a can of mixed vegetables? And nobody stole it from me. Dx Sure, it might be helpful. But I wanted the explosives. TT_TT

Then Megan stole them from Brian. Then Lori stole them from Mega, successfully freezing them as her own. D8 Angst!

When all that was done, we played a game called "Couches"? It was kinda weird. But fun. It was Socks VS Feet, and I was a Socky. (Say it out loud. lolz. Socky.) So my goal was to get three Sockies on the couch to win. And everyone drew each other's names from a pile. So.. say I was Mrs. Penny. And Mrs. Penny was Michael. And Michael was Alicia. In order to get Michael off the couch, someone would have to say Alicia, and he would move to the empty seat, and the person sitting to the right of the empty seat would say a name and try to get a foe off the couch and a friend on it.

Team Socky is amazing. We won three times in a row. Then Footsies won. Then we played again and I forgot who won. Then it was time to go... I took my glove scraper watchyamacallit and... canned veggies.. and Alicia and booked it to her house, 'cause she had to be back by 10:00 and it was like.. 9:46. D8

But we made it.

And I made it home.

And.. stayed up too late again.

Sunday:
I woke up Sunday morning.. and did not know what day it was. I was thinking "Why is my radio going off? Do I really have to be up? Maybe I'll turn it back off.. I'm not doing anything today. It's Monday. I don't have Wake Tech." When in fact, I had to work on Monday, and it wasn't Monday. It was Sunday. I realized this when I looked at the clock and it said 8:00. Ohrite. 8:00 means Sunday.

I still rolled around in bed for too long, but did manage to get ready on time. And everyone but me, Seri, Cianna, and Dad stayed home. Whuuut. Sick people are sick.

The seniors were wrapping presents for our adopted family. So my sunday school class skipped out on the master teaching session and went to our room to wrap presents. Cool stuff, right? Alicia, Drew, Grace and I wrapped a bunch.

Then Pastor Brian came back in, and dropped a candy cane in the back of my fedora. And it fell off. And Grace suggested I put it in the pin I have on the side. So I did. I was wearing black pinstriped pants, a fancy sleeveless black top, a black pinestriped fedora, and a classic candy cane on my fedora instead of.. a feather or something. It was snazzy.. and I had a lot of people compliment it.. despite how kinda tacky it was. XD It was FunTacky. More people need to do FunTacky.

It was kinda funny though when I think about it. I'm not mad, or sad, or anything like that... but I'm walking around in all black, not smiling, not talking (much), with a single bright candycane sticking off the side of my fedora. Fun, no? lolable.

Service was good.. I'd like to blog about that one sometime... but it's late and I need to get to bed. Maybe I'll make a separate post for it some time since Pastor Richard said he'd be blogging about it. xD

Hmm.. then I talked to Mrs. Christy Davis (Spelling plz) as I looking for Seri. We decided we would go get coffee some time before the weather warms up and just catch up. I love that woman to death. And I haven't really been able to talk to her since I finished my American Lit class with her in like... May. ;_;

Then we went home. We had dinner with the Norris family. I tried to stay part of things, but I was exhausted. So I took a nap before I had to work.

Woke up at 3:50. Got ready, messed around a little, and then left.

On my way there, my airbag light turned on. D8 No idea why. I promptly spit out my gum and held the wheel like I'm supposed to. >>; If it goes off for no reason, I don't wanna break my hands/thumbs or inhale my gum. But it didn't go off.. I did send Mom a text and tell her what happened though.

The first hour of work was spent chatting about movies with some coworkers and Rose. xD lulz. Typical. The night went by smoothly.. I didn't draw much.. I did work on some Christmas cards though. Rose also said I could check my phone now and then, as long as I wasn't checking it as much as Keishawn does. xD Cool..

After several rushes that required calling Rose for assistance, the night ended... And I got off a little early. There were plenty of people in concessions. It'd be pretty sad if they needed my help. So Rose let me go home.

Air bag light was on when I turned on my car. Then it went off.. then while I was on the road, it came on again. D8 Stupid thing... Ugh.

I am afraid of gas prices. They're up to $1.59/$1.64-ish around here. Not a big change, but it went up. Last time it went up it kept going up. And going and going and going.. And I'm so afraid that as soon as New Years is over, they'll shoot back up to $3.00 again.

It's like.. the government made them lower the prices. That way people have extra money to spend on stuff during the season that people buy the most stuff, thus stimulating the economy. I know the only reason I could afford presents this year was because I wasn't dumping all my money into my gas tank. :< Indeed... I am afraid. I hope I'm wrong.

And I'm up too late again blogging. BUT HEY! I'm caught up now! 8D

Kinda.. I still gotta upload a ton of pictures I've promised and put those up. Hopefully I can keep up though and be up to date for my Christmas posts.
